8 December, 1980 John Lennon was killed by a mentally unstable U.S. citizen Mark Chapmen. On the day of death, Lennon gave his last interview with American reporters, but 22 hours 50 minutes, when John and Yoko was composed by the arch of his home, returning from the recording studio Hit Factory, Chapman, earlier in the day In his autograph from Lennon on the cover of new album «Double Fantasy», made five shots in his back. Police car caused greeter «Dakota», Lennon just a few minutes, was taken to Roosevelt Hospital. But Lennon's attempts to save the doctors were in vain - because of the large loss of blood, he died, the official time of death 23 hours and 15 minutes. He was the cremation in New York, Lennon's ashes were transferred to Yoko Ono.
Mark Chapman is serving a life sentence in the New York prison for his crime. Already five times, he filed a petition for early release, but each time they had been rejected. Yoko Ono in 2000, sent a letter to the Department for the release of the State of New York, which urged not to release Chapman prematurely.
In 1984 the light went out in the posthumous album of John Lennon's «Milk and Honey». The songs were recorded in the last months of life of Lennon. Basically, it consists of sessions for Double Fantasy.
